Healthcare delivery remains a critical concern in Nigeria’s healthcare sector, as it depends heavily on the availability and stability of skilled healthcare workers. This challenge is intensified by increasing pressure on private healthcare facilities to provide efficient, patient centered services. This study examines the relationship between employee retention strategies and quality healthcare delivery in selected private healthcare facilities in Lagos State, focusing on employee compensation, working conditions, and training and development as key retention strategies. The study is anchored on the Resource-Based Theory and the Human Capital Theory. Using a survey design, 204 copies of the questionnaire were distributed to healthcare workers, with 158 valid responses obtained. The data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including frequency counts, means, standard deviations, regression analysis, and Pearson correlation analysis. The findings reveal a significant positive effect of
employee retention strategies on the quality of healthcare delivery, with compensation exhibiting the strongest effect, followed by training and development, and then working conditions. The study concludes that fostering effective employee retention strategies through competitive compensation, supportive working conditions, and ongoing training is essential for sustaining high standards of healthcare delivery. It recommends that healthcare leaders and policymakers prioritise retention-focused strategies as a core component of healthcare management.
